This fellowship was truly a transformative hands-on experience in the heart of Cairo. Over six intensive
days, we—four fellows from different countries and surgical backgrounds (ENT and plastic surgery)—had
the unique opportunity to perform rhinoplasty under the direct supervision of Professor Foda.
Each day included two primary rhinoplasty cases where we participated in every step:

 Analyzing facial aesthetics

It was pure serendipity that I happened to meet Prof. Foda at one of the exclusive Rhinoplasty
conferences wherein most of the Who's who in the Rhinoplasty world were presenting and Prof Foda's
simplicity of presentation without being ostentatious, the complexity of cases and the outstanding

I then decided to apply for his hands on fellowship which I am glad that I did.
This hand- on fellowship is one of its kind in the world, wherein the fellows are taught in a step by step
manner. From the first case onwards, gradually one can see performing all aspects of Rhinoplasty
surgery incrementally including complex tip defining work.
Prof Foda's style of teaching is crisp, clear, and informative. There was discussion about each case, prior
to the surgery as to what aspects were being addressed and why a particular procedure or maneuver

The cases were a good mix of different types of noses and different procedures carried out, yet there
was good continuity of experience. There was didactic lunch time teaching as well about different
aspects of the art of Rhinoplasty.

This was not my first rhinoplasty fellowship, but it was certainly the best. We performed twelve
surgeries in six days. One of the main values of the course is hands-on training. Professor Foda
shows you his technique for rhinoplasty step by step, and then lets you do it the same way and
controls your movements. One of the surgeries was a revision rhinoplasty using the auricular
cartilage which Professor Foda is famous for. He is an excellent teacher and a great surgeon
who makes rhinoplasty seem easy. In between surgeries, the Professor presented the
theoretical basics of rhinoplasty and problem-solving methods. We asked an endless number of
questions, and he answered them all patiently. Professor Foda has assembled a great surgical

Cependant, j’ai trouvé encore plus que ce que je venais chercher. Le Professeur Foda est un enseignant comme j’en ai rarement croisé. Il nous permet de réaliser toutes les étapes d’une rhinoplastie primaire sous sa supervision en corrigeant patiemment et précisément chacun de nos gestes.
Je n’avais jamais été guidée de cette sorte dans la réalisation d’une rhinoplastie et je peux dire que ce fellowship a transformé ma pratique et m’a donné beaucoup de confiance.
L’accueil au bloc opératoire était excellent de la part de toute l’équipe. Tout était prévu pour que nos journées se passent pour le mieux. En dehors du bloc opératoire, nous avons passé de magnifiques soirées en compagnie du Professeur Foda et de son fellow Mansour.

I had the privilege to attend the 15th Rhinoplasty Live Surgery Fellowship in Cairo with Prof. Hossam Foda from 7-12 th December 2019.
Besides being one of the renowned icons of modern Rhinoplasty, Prof. Hossam is an excellent teacher. The Hands-on fellowship is organized in a way that you can do a step-by-step open Rhinoplasty under his supervision. Based on his huge experience, we can learn even the small practical details that frequently miss from presentations or cadaveric courses.
No matter being a beginner or an experienced Rhino surgeon there is always a lot to learn during the 12 cases operated. On Pre-op all the cases were revised, and Intra-op with schemes that would let us keep in mind what we have done. Between first and second case everyday there were lectures of all aspects of the surgery.
During our stay in Cairo, we had the chance to also appreciate with Dr Hossam the richness of culinary in Egypt in wonderful evenings.
In short this was an outstanding course that fulfilled my requirements.

My training in cosmetic and microvascular plastic surgery includes Italy, Brazil, Spain, UK, USA, and Israel. Today I lead my own cosmetic plastic surgery service in Harley Street, Central London. During the 1-week fellowship I operated every day, performing, again and again, all steps of open septorhinoplasty (primary and revision), I was supervised on each single movement during cartilage harvest from septum and ear, dicing, curving and suturing, osteotomies alar base reduction, management of skin and mucosa laceration and scar contraction .
In synthesis, I was led through every single step of the procedure, from infiltration to splinting. All results achieved during the fellowship were exceptionally good.
Between surgeries, Prof. Foda presented us with all his famous talks for which he is invited to teach all around the planet. Lunch was served during the teaching to optimize time and go back to operate the next case. The “fellowship pack” also includes notes and images of the operated cases, CD with videos and USB with the huge scientific production of Professor Foda.
The fellowship is intense because the seven days are full of theory and practice. The cost is absolutely reasonable compared with any other cadaver dissections course with or without live surgery: this course is a real “surgical personal training”. After this course, I will be able to resolve a larger number of nasal problems or certainly the same but better than before, with an immediate return of investment. I always use to class myself as moderate to advance level of a Rhinoplasty surgeon in Pakistan. I have had great pleasure to attend the Alexandria 7th Rhinoplasty Fellowship. From first day till end of the fellowship, Prof. Foda was absolutely friendly and very interested in teaching us.
During 7 days we operated 14 cases- from simple primary rhinoplasties to very difficult revisions.
Before each rhinoplasty, Prof. Foda discussed with us the existing deformities and the surgical plan for each patient.
But the most important thing during this fellowship was hands-on training. It was truly 100% hands-on, I have never attended such a fantastic fellowship.

This course has surpassed all expectations! Dr. Foda was very gracious, and shared unstintingly from his wealth of knowledge.
He provided a very logical stepwise approach to learning and operating on the nose – from dorsum, to nasal tip, to nasal alae. Most importantly, every maneuver was presented with the most concise technique to maximize efficiency and minimize risk. The patient selection could not be better; a straightforward primary rhinoplasty patient in the morning would alternate with a more complicated revision case in the afternoon, so that we could understand how not to make the primary mistake, and more importantly – how to fix the primary mistake. Under Dr. Foda’s watchful gaze, over the course of a week, and 12 live patients later, my colleagues and I grew in technical confidence and appreciation of the finer points of rhinoplasty. If you are a neophyte, this course will go a long way towards giving you confidence in your surgical know-how.
If you are experienced, you will become an even better, and more polished rhinoplasty surgeon. Lastly, the staff of Alex Specialized Hospital could not be more warm and accommodating, and the weather of Alexandria by the Mediterranean Sea was perfect in June.
